Activision announced the latest chapter in the Spider-man gaming franchise last week during Wonder-con. Today, they’ve released the first trailer to the public. Spider-Man: Edge of Time is being developed by Beenox, the same studio that worked on Shattered Dimensions.
Shattered Dimensions was, by most consumer and critical reports, one of the better Spider-man efforts to see birth on the virtual front in the last few years. Recently, the franchise has been caught in a downward tumble. Web of Shadows, the Spider-Man game from 2008, was a complete and utter mess as far as I’m concerned. In fact, I’d go as far as saying that before Shattered Dimensions, the last good Spider-Man game came out in the generation before this, Ultimate Spider-Man.
Activision and Beenox, however, assert that Edge if Time will be golden. And, given the strengths of Shattered Dimensions, the studio is certainly on to something.
